About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and compassionate Handyperson to provide a professional, client-focused service to vulnerable and disabled adults across London. This role involves carrying out general DIY tasks, small repairs, and safety modifications to help individuals live safely and comfortably in their homes. You will also support our high-support schemes by completing voids work, including decorating, minor plumbing, and caretaking tasks.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will provide a responsive and high-quality minor household repairs and small works service, including installing grab rails, key safes, blinds, basic plumbing, and decorating. Ensuring timely completion of tasks within designated time slots, you will also manage stock, order materials, and maintain accurate records. Your responsibilities will include completing voids work, conducting health and safety checks, and performing caretaking duties across supported housing schemes. By building strong relationships with customers, you will ensure excellent service and satisfaction while identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns. Additionally, you will maintain the company van in line with Peabody’s health and safety policies and collaborate with other teams to report issues and ensure seamless service delivery.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:

Competent in general DIY tasks (painting, minor plumbing, installing fittings, etc.).

Understanding and patient, especially when working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or older adults.

Able to work independently while also contributing to a supportive team.

Organised and able to manage time effectively to complete work within schedule.

Friendly and approachable, with excellent communication skills to explain work to residents.

Reliable, respectful, and non-judgmental, with a commitment to high-quality service.
What You Need

At least 2 years’ experience in general housing repairs and maintenance.

Experience working in care settings or supporting vulnerable people is desirable.

Full clean UK driving licence (Van & fuel card provided).

Basic IT literacy (not essential but desirable).

Good level of general fitness (ability to climb stairs, ladders, etc.).
