Affordable, energy-efficient homes completed in Stoke Hammond, Buckinghamshire

Fenny Road Completion

Peabody is welcoming new residents to Stoke Hammond in Buckinghamshire, after completing 58 affordable, low-energy homes in the village.

Published: 13/11/2024

The new Honeybrooke development, off Fenny Road, includes 43 houses and 15 apartments.

Thirty-four of the houses have three or four bedrooms, helping to meet demand for larger family homes in the area, and all the homes are affordable – with 34 for affordable rent and 24 for shared ownership.

The homes feature cutting-edge energy-efficient technology, such as air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems, and solar panels. These eco-friendly measures, which follow many of the principles of Passivhaus design, will not only reduce the environmental footprint but also help to keep energy costs lower for residents.

Conveniently located near Milton Keynes and major transport routes like the A5 and M1, and with nearby rail links to London, Birmingham, and East West Rail, Honeybrooke offers modern, sustainable living within reach of urban hubs while being surrounded by countryside and local parks.

Simon Barry, Regional Managing Director at Peabody, said: “These homes provide local people with an opportunity to either rent affordably or step onto the property ladder in an area that has traditionally been out of reach for many. What’s more, the environmental credentials of the homes will ensure they’re more economical to run and more comfortable for residents. It’s great to see the project come to fruition and residents already enjoying their new homes.”

Representatives from Peabody, their building contractors The Hill Group, and Stoke Hammond Parish Council recently held a special event at Honeybrooke to officially mark the completion of the project.

Rob Jack, Regional Director at The Hill Group, added: “We’re thrilled to have delivered these sustainable, affordable homes for Peabody. This development not only addresses local housing needs but also empowers residents to enjoy the long-term financial advantages of energy-efficient living.”

Honeybrooke has already earned recognition, winning Best Small/Medium Development at the First Time Buyer Reader's Awards in September. It was also shortlisted for Best Shared Ownership Development at this year's Inside Housing Development Awards.
